MDBA Alliances

Policy planning is an inclusive effort, diverse groups are engaged in the problem solving discussions to contend with the anticipated forces of growth. Traffic, utilities, parking, green space, political wrangling for funding -- Join in with the Alliances of MDBA.

Annunciation Orthodox School - A private school, pre-K through 8th grade. Established in 1970 with 14 students, AOS now serves over 650 students (as of 2007).

Art League Houston - Founded in 1948, one of Houston's oldest non-profit visual arts groups and it was the first alternative art space in Texas.

Blueprint Houston - A non profit organization dedicated to building community support for a planning process that makes improvements to Houston's quality of life and place.

BPA • Bayou Preservation - A citizens' group whose mission is to protect and restore the richness and diversity of our waterways.

Friends of Mandell Park -These citizens have worked over two decades to develop this 1.22 acre park into a tranquil green oasis along the Richmond thoroughfare.

Houston Museum District - An association of museums, galleries and community organizations dedicated to promoting the arts, sciences and cultural amenities of the area. The district currently comprises 18 museums that recorded a attendance of over 8.7 million in 2007.

Houston Tomorrow - An institute for research, education and discussion, founded in 1998 to explore urban issues and to inform the discussion concerning growth and quality of life in the Houston Gulf Coast Region.

Montrose Boulevard Conservancy - A community based, non-profit corporation, dedicated to restoration of the Boulevard by creating a landscaped, well-lighted 2.7 mile pedestrian pathway with park-like amenities.

Montrose Management District - In 2006 this new civic entity developed a plan to support local businesses, local culture, public safety, and transportation improvements.

Neartown Association was established in 1963 by residents to improve the quality of life in an area encompassing many of Houston's oldest neighborhoods. Neartown supports local civic associations, rallying these groups when issues of larger community concerns develop.

A charter amendment campaign to create a dedicated pay-as-you-go funding source, $10 billion, to repair Houston's drainage and streets. This fund would bridge the gap between what the city can afford and the proper infrastructure needed.

Dedicated to the creation of connected, livable neighborhoods with good sidewalks and streets, and with choices for mobility. Activists are residents, business owners and institutions with an interest in the long term health of Richmond Avenue.

A Catholic, liberal arts university in the museum district, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees to over 2700 students. UST recently received accreditation from the American Chemical Society.

Montrose - Established in 1911, this demographically diverse neighborhood of renovated mansions and bungalows with wide porches on tree-lined boulevards, is pedestrian-friendly and has a strong identity built up over its long history.
